Let it Be
“Let it be”
One of my favorite songs ever.
Life is all about feeling, learning, growing, loving, and loving something so much that you can let it go no matter how much it hurts because that’s just how it works.
My Grandmother passed away a few months ago. She was a very crafty lady. As I was wandering around her house, I found her collection of paint brushes. The memories overwhelmed me. She taught me to paint when I was little. Sitting at the dining room table, paintbrush in hand, my feet couldn’t even touch the floor. We spent countless afternoons painting life and color into ceramic bears, plain paper, river rocks and flower pots. Simple things. I asked my mom if I could have my Grandma’s paintbrushes. As I was about to leave, with Grandma’s paintbrushes in hand, I came across a piece of white-washed wood leaning up against the freezer in her laundry room. It was the shelf that she used to display her paint brush collection. As soon as I saw it, I immediately knew that I had to have that beat up piece of wood, stained with colorful rings from the bottom of her paint bottles.
I wanted to keep the design simple. I found this picture online, added my own twist and decided to go from there. The designer in me loves the left justification because it leaves enough space to let the birds feel free to fly away in whichever direction they choose. On second thought, that’s probably just the romantic in me.
